SABBATH REST Friday, March 12, 2010 from
10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Facilitated by Lorita Moffatt, RSM and Catherine Regan, Ph.D. Jesus said, "Come away…and rest a while." In the spirit of Lent, we will practice surrender ~ Letting go of our ordinary "doing" ~ We will rest in the simple rhythms of the day and of the season ~ in prayer, silence, earth, body, word, music, art, community. Suggested reading: Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in our Busy Lives by Wayne Muller. Lorita Moffatt, RSM, received her Masters in Applied Spirituality from the University of San Francisco. Her background includes teaching, parish ministry, and retreat work. She is on the program staff of Mercy Center and coordinates the Spiritual Directors’ Institute. Lorita has extensive experience in spiritual direction, retreat direction, and supervision. Her special interest and focus is in directing the Ignatian Exercises and the formation of directors. Catherine Regan, Ph.D. is a spiritual director, clinical psychologist, and staff member at Mercy Center. She has a special interest in contemplative practices and the benefits of these practices in our individual and collective lives. She has taught the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program for many years and coordinates Mercy Center’s Centering Prayer Program and Conscious Evolution Group.
