In our secular, contentious world, can we still hear God speaking to us in sacred Scripture? Is Scripture really relevant to our daily lives? And if so, what is God revealing to us about our own spiritual path?

In this contemplative retreat, award-winning author Veronica Mary Rolf will address these burning questions by drawing on themes from her new book, Suddenly There is God: The Story of Our Lives in Sacred Scripture (Cascade Books, 2019).

In a highly dramatic approach, we will explore the motivations, conflicts, and realizations of biblical characters who find themselves caught up in the divine-human stories. Then we will relate these stories directly to the distinct stages of our own lives: being created, falling from grace, leaving the childhood ark, hearing God’s call, gaining freedom, embracing covenant, praying the psalms, learning forgiveness, choosing love, and expecting resurrection. Thus we may gain fresh insight into the ways in which divine presence has been “breaking in”—suddenly!—to grace and transform our lives.

This retreat is for all spiritual seekers who long to experience the drama of sacred Scripture as deeply personal revelation.
