This first session of a three-part series will focus on Mechtild of Magdeburg, 13th century, writer of the classic text, The Flowing Light of the Godhead, and part of the Beguines – an extraordinary women's movement.

The women mystics give voice to the the sacred feminine pathways to union with the Holy One. They invite us to reclaim our desires and longings, to trust in our experiences of God, and to unite contemplation and action. During our exploration, we will be accompanied by three strong and compassionate female mystics.

The 13th century mystic, Mechtild of Magdeburg, invites us to dive deep into our longings, and to give ourselves wholly and passionately to the One who loves us.

The 16th century mystic, Teresa of Avila, guides us into the depth of our souls, where we rest in union with the Divine. The modern-day mystic, Cynthia Bourgeault, gives us a new perspective on Jesus as a wisdom teacher of consciousness.

In this three-part online contemplative series we will: Engage in contemplative prayer through guided meditations and breath awareness Listen to the writings of the mystics with Lectio Divina (sacred reading) Reflect upon the teachings using writing prompts and sharing in small groups.
