FOUR SEASONS HAIKU KAI

BACK TO HAIKU KAI

HAIKU KAI REPORT
MAY 2, 2015
SPRING MEETING

Attending

Jane Benson, Barbara Campitelli, Danielle Draper, Mary Joyce, David Keim, Elaine Mannon, Sarah Paris, Anne Rees, Janet Schroder, Karen Schlumpp and Mark Werlin.

After rounds of haiku on the theme of greening, we circulated the proof copy of "Haiku Realms", our new collection. A PDF copy of the corrected text was subsequently forwarded to all contributors for final review.

Barbara compiled an exercise in writing third lines. Haiku by American poets Jane Reichhold, Garry Gay and Paul O. Williams, and Japanese masters Basho, Buson and Issa, all minus their third lines, provided an opportunity to explore various approaches to bringing the poems to conclusion. After readings from around the table, Barbara read the final lines from the original poems.

At the Summer meeting on August 22, Mark will do a brief presentation on the Tanka poetic form.
