FOUR SEASONS HAIKU KAI

BACK TO HAIKU KAI

HAIKU KAI REPORT
November 19, 2016
FALL MEETING

Attending

Jane Benson, Danielle Draper, David Keim Elaine Mannon, Sarah Paris, Joan Pera, Karen Schlumpp and Mark Werlin.

Meeting

Using old photographs of a place, object, person or scene as prompts, we each wrote multiple haiku—quickly—in response to our immediate impressions. This was an interesting process which encouraged spontaneity and inventiveness.

Fall Haiku

Some haiku shared at the November 19 meeting:

a glitter of wings
only ripples
left behind

Jane Benson
Maple leaves
dance—the crunch
of children's boots

Danielle Draper
A statue
the saint overlooking
three giggling students

David Keim
Fearsome name
iridescent wings
stuff of fairy tales

Elaine Mannon
catching the moon
in their silver hair—old
friends walking

Sarah Paris
egret in still
water—
upside down world

Karen Schlumpp
just before sunset
blossoms and bees
conversing

Mark Werlin
