FALL 2018 APPEAL

What does it mean to stay centered in God?

In these times of great uncertainty, more people than ever are seeking our ministry of presence and hospitality to balance their daily challenges with prayer and spiritual practices. When you arrive at Mercy Center, you can breathe and feel the peace deepen as you let go of the whirl of the world. You can return once more to be "centered in God."

Our hearts can always be in the same place,

centered in God. Catherine McAuley

Centering ourselves in our loving God can bring us peace, help us discern, and open us to respond to the less fortunate among us.

You may have been one of over 100 people who completed formation programs in Christian spirituality, Centering Prayer or spiritual direction.

You may have attended a retreat with recognized leaders in the contemplative world, participated in a low-cost day of prayer, an evening of meditation, a workshop with acclaimed teachers, or joined the cohort for the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.

You may have also joined us in this sacred space for liturgies, to walk the labyrinth or spend time in quiet in the chapel or meditation room.

These opportunities are not available without your financial help, as we work to keep the doors of Mercy open to all.

Won't you join us again this year as we continue to be a place where so many find respite from the world?

Your gift helps fund our outreach programs to bring Mercy to diverse groups. Last year, we welcomed 60 young adults to pray, sing and study with the Brothers of Taizé; every year, we offer retreats in Spanish, and Chinese-language programs. In December, through the generosity of our staff and volunteers, we'll provide a retreat for 40 people who live in shelters or are homeless.

In these challenging times, we want to keep extending this hospitality to those who are struggling to find ways to stay centered in God. Your generosity helps keep our program fees affordable and provides financial aid to attend our programs. Mercy Center remains a sacred space for you and many others from the Bay Area and across the United States to be "centered in God."

We hope to welcome you soon to this place of peace!

Sincerely,

Suzanne M. Buckley, Director
